Rod Stewart's ex-wife has replaced his current girlfriend as the spokesmodel for Ultimo Underwear. The new contract sees Rachel Hunter stepping into the same risqué lingerie which was famously modelled by Penny Lancaster until recently.
The news comes shortly after Penny was told her £200,000 contract would not be renewed. And Rachel's deal, which will see her representing the company for the next two years, is said to be worth more than her predecessor's. The agreement is seen by many as just the latest blow in a long-running feud between the two blonde bombshells.
Company boss Michelle Mone, who recently said Penny was not famous enough for Ultimo, has refused to be drawn on the row. "Rachel Hunter is an actress and international supermodel, a mother of two and one of the sexiest women in the world," she said.
But Penny's agent Nicholas Young was rather more forthcoming when he was asked about the deal. "Obviously Ultimo have their reasons for choosing Rachel and Rachel has her reasons for accepting," he said. "But I find it rather an odd choice. Usually if one is upgrading you go for a younger model not an older one. It seems to me a cheap publicity stunt and childish point scoring. The point is that Penny recently appeared at an Ultimo fashion show in Glasgow with Rod on her arm. Rachel obviously won't be able to do that."
