After a difficult period, Kate Moss is undoubtedly back in the position she has occupied since the early 1990s - at the top of her profession. This week there was further proof of the model's stellar status with the announcement that she is to appear in her first-ever speaking role as the face of Virgin mobile, in a deal reportedly worth £1.2 million.
The Croydon-born beauty will be shown lazing about, drinking tea in a baggy jumper, as she takes a call from her agent about a juicy modelling offer. An excited-looking Kate is all ears and getting ready to sign up, but in a cheeky twist it turns out he is talking from a mobile phone shop about a monthly contract.
In real life, of course, since leaving rehab, Kate's feet have hardly touched the ground, she's been so busy jetting between major assignments. She recently guest edited the December issue of French Vogue and also shot a campaign for the designer Roberto Cavalli on the Spanish island of Ibiza.
The model has also topped a magazine poll to be named Best Dressed Woman of 2005, beating off competition from the likes of Match Point actress Scarlett Johansson, Sienna Miller and Keira Knightley.
Virgin boss Richard Branson paid tribute to her performance in the ad, which will be shown on Christmas Eve, calling her "the best model in the world".
"She looks stunning and will impress people with her acting skills, comic timing and her ability to poke fun at herself," he enthused.
