At the People's Choice Awards on Tuesday - where they each picked up a gong - Sandra Bullock and Jessica Simpson were both displaying golden tans in bare-shoulder creations. The Speed star was in chic, empire-waisted black lace while the Daisy Duke actress opted for an eye-catching scarlet sheath with dainty white trim.
Also proving that less can equal more at another gala event were Rachel Weisz and Charlize Theron.
British beauty Rachel, who has just announced that she is five months' pregnant, picked a stunning cream silk number with a black velvet bodice to present an award at Monday's Critics Choice Awards.
Meanwhile, at the same event, the Monster actress wore a strapless interpretation in this season's hottest hue, accessorising her strikingly minimalist white gown with a smart silver clutch.
