Some dramatic role-swapping looks set to take place in the world of showbiz, with several high-profile stars opting to try their hands at something completely different. Catwalk queen Naomi Campbell is set for a high-profile turn on the screen, while pop starlet Britney Spears has agreed to appear in a TV sitcom. Perhaps the most surprising entertainment debut will be made by veteran British newscaster Jon Snow, however, as he is hoping to take the pop charts by storm with a new musical release.
Naomi's latest outing sees her teaming up with renowned character actor John Malkovich in a wicked promotion for the tire company Pirelli. The runway star plays the devil in the new clip, while her co-star, who is better-known for his villainous roles, turns over a new leaf by becoming a priest who must confront her "princess of darkness".
Over in the US, meanwhile, new mum Britney Spears is aiming to win over TV fans by joining the cast of popular comedy series Will And Grace. The Toxic singer is to play a staunchly Christian TV chef who fronts a programme entitled Cruci-fixin's in a forthcoming episode. America's princess of pop, who was an outspoken champion of spiritual values in the early days of her career, follows in the footsteps of Jennifer Lopez and Michael Douglas by appearing in the show.
The 24-year-old's foray into small screen work will not raise nearly so many eyebrows as Jon Snow's offering, however. Channel 4's most respected journalist has decided to swap political debate for rock and roll glory by teaming up with unknown Oxford band Suitable Case For Treatment on their debut album. "They made contact by e-mail," revealed the 58-year-old. "They asked, 'Would you like to cut a disk with us?'. They're great and so enthusiastic. I don't actually sing on the record – I talk my way through it."
