Mary-Kate Olsen and her equally popular sister Ashley are best-known for their "boho-chic" style statements, but red carpet favourites Mark Badgley and James Mischka evidently believe the pair are just as capable of embodying high-octane glamour, as they have signed up the siblings to front their latest advertising campaign.
Newly-released photos of the two girls, which will soon be appearing on the pages of Vogue, Elle and Vanity Fair, show an altogether more sophisticated side to the headline-friendly pair. The twins ditched their ripped jeans and casual jackets in favour of stunning ballgowns for the photoshoot, which was staged in the opulent presidential suite of Manhattan's St Regis Hotel.
Their appearance in the new campaign has surprised some fashionistas, but Mark and James, who count Catherine Zeta-Jones, Elizabeth Hurley and Ashley Judd among their fans, are convinced the ubiquitous duo fit perfectly with their upmarket brand. "Ashley and Mary-Kate have grown up to become America's style icons," they said in a statement. "They have an amazing sense of fashion and individuality that intrigued us."
And it would appear the two teenagers are equally enamoured of the Badgley-Mischka label, as it is the first time they've appeared in ads for a brand other than their own. "We have been fans of Mark and James for years and were honoured when approached to appear in the campaign," they said.
