Having been married to Scotland's biggest star for over 30 years, one might suspect Micheline Roquebrune would already know the answer to the old question of what the country's menfolk wear under their kilts. Sir Sean Connery's wife seemed intent on ridding herself of any doubt when she joined her husband for the 'Dressed To Kilt' fashion show in New York, though.
The veteran actor seemed a little concerned when his long-time partner playfully hitched up his kilt and tried to take a peak underneath. "My wife was here last year and we're still settling the lawsuit," he joked. "I don't want you to pay too much attention to what you've witnessed – my wife doesn't always rip the shirt off the guy she's dancing with."
Edinburgh's favourite son, who was making his first public appearance since undergoing surgery to remove a tumour from his kidney, was just one of a series of stars who turned out to support the event. The yearly catwalk show, which aims to promote Scottish designers, is part of the Big Apple's annual Tartan Week.
Also strutting his stuff at the bash was Dundee-born star Brian Cox, who movie fans will recognise from The Bourne Identity and Troy. The 59-year-old actor drew gasps from the audience inside St John Devine Cathedral when he and his actor son Alan pulled up their kilts and exposed their bottoms, proving that they were both going 'au naturel' underneath. Dancer Tom Gold took measures to preserve his modesty, however, with his garment apparently fastened down when he pirouetted along the runway.
