Cannes' red carpet was awash with seductive night-shades of blue and purple over the weekend thanks to celebrity style leaders including Beyonce Knowles and Liz Hurley.

Model Liz was on typically glamorous form as she attended Sunday's Trophee Chopard ceremony, which recognises new young acting talent, with best friend Elton John. The toned mum-of-one was dressed to impress in one of her signature slashed-to-the-thigh gowns by Versace in vibrant violet.

Also sporting the regal hue was burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese. The porcelain beauty who is married to gothic rocker Marilyn Manson, opted for a dramatic deep aubergine frock softened with a pink bow at the waist. Her floor-length affair didn't stay put for long, however, as she later performed her favourite risqué party trick in a giant cocktail glass.

Meanwhile Beyonce and Penelope Cruz were modelling the other hot hue of the night. The Destiny's Child singer who is in Cannes to promote her latest flick Dreamgirls, literally stopped traffic as she crossed the famous seafront esplanade in a dazzling blue dress with a flower patterned train designed by her mum, Tina Knowles. Spanish beauty Penelope was equally stylish in her strapless dark blue number accessorised with a sparkling diamond and sapphire necklace.
