Model Dita Von Teese, singer Lisa Marie Presley and hip-hop star Eve are all quite capable of setting pulses racing on their own, but the three showbiz beauties proved they could make an even bigger impact together when they joined forces in the Big Apple this week.
At first glance the three women might seem an unlikely partnership, but they have united to do their bit for Aids charities by starring in MAC Cosmetics' latest 'Viva Glam' campaign. They got some high-octane support from chart-topper Christina Aguilera, who has also represented the fundraising drive, when they turned out for a glitzy launch party in the heart of New York.
Lisa Marie, who was accompanied to the event by her husband Michael Lockwood, said she and her collaborators were hoping to reach as many different sections of the community as possible. Asked what kind of people would be attracted by her presence in the company's latest advertisements, the king of rock and roll's daughter confessed it could be quite a mix.
"That's a complex question," she said. "Based on my fan base, it's 80 per cent gay, young girls, bikers, women my age and then some occasional Elvis fans. It's an eclectic potpourri - if I go to a signing or show, it's a rainbow!"
According to the firm's boss, John Demsey, that's exactly what MAC is aiming for. "We want to rattle some cages," he explained. "We want to grab people's attention and not let them turn away. And most importantly, we want to reach even more people. Our spokespeople cut through the clutter."
