Staff at the Versace store in London's Sloane Street are accustomed to seeing famous faces browsing through the shop, but even they would have been forgiven for getting a little flustered on Thursday night when the venue was suddenly flooded with major names.
In addition to A-list stars like Rod Stewart, Elle Macpherson, Eva Herzigova and Elizabeth Hurley, who went along to the outlet when Donatella Versace hosted a glitzy soiree there this week, also on hand was the designer's daughter Allegra.
It was a rare company-related outing for the 20-year-old who, although she inherited control of half of the Versace holdings from the late designer on her 18th birthday, normally eschews the high profile maintained by her famous mum.
Award-winning actress Thandie Newton, who was also turning heads at a shindig in the National Portrait Gallery the previous night, hit the town again on Thursday, this time in a figure-hugging black minidress. And songstress Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who opted for a rather more vibrant style statement, obviously has an equally busy social schedule, as she was spotted at another showbiz bash later in the evening, too.
Liz Hurley caused quite a stir with her gown, which featured a plunging neckline, when she made her entrance hand-in-hand with Sir Elton John's partner David Furnish. German supermodel Claudia Schiffer decided to make a rather different style statement, however, opting for a metallic silver sheath, while pop star Cheryl Tweedy, who was escorted by new husband Ashley Cole, went for a shimmering wraparound number.
