The British capital has brightened up the fashion world this week with an ultra vibrant display of hot hues. In contrast to the predominantly nude and black palette seen on the New York catwalks, designers including Paul Smith have opted for summery citrus shades and vivid multi-coloured creations.
Delhi-based designer Manish Arora, who dresses most Bollywood stars, set the colourful tone at the start of the five-day event with a spring/summer collection he said was "inspired by a paradise forest". And so it was, drawing gasps of admiration from the front-rows.
The runway was a riot of colour as models stepped out in kaleidoscopic-patterned dresses, exotic bird headdresses and frocks adorned with embroidered animals and flowers.
Over at Brit tailor Paul Smith, bright greens, yellows, violets and oranges were channelled into casual menswear for women as well as floaty feminine numbers perfect for summer garden parties.
The prize for most electrifying colour, however, went to young newcomer, 25-year-old Christopher Kane who had the disco look all zipped up. His clingy micro-dresses came in every fluorescent hue imaginable, embellished with lace ruffles.
