When it came to choosing a gown for this week's Night of Stars fashion industry honours there was only one prerequisite it seems - that it was black. A host of Hollywood beauties, including Anne Hathaway and Mischa Barton, stepped out on Thursday night to the Fashion Group International awards - which recognises icons, style-makers and transformers of fashion and design - all wearing the classic hue.
Currently the darling of the fashion industry, Anne reminded everyone of her Galliano dress moment in The Devil Wears Prada when she arrived in a structured satin number, featuring capped sleeves and a scooped back. The actress was just one of the high-profile guests at the event which honoured Renee Zellweger's favourite designer Carolina Herrera, as well as YSL's Stefano Pilati.
Accompanied by her Italian boyfriend of two-and-a-half years, Raffaello Follieri, the stunning 24-year-old will soon be ditching designer frocks in favour of corsets and petticoats for her role as Pride And Prejudice author Jane Austen in the upcoming production Becoming Jane. For now, though, she seems happy to make the most of her designer wardrobe, posing alongside fellow style-savvy starlet Mischa, who made a statement in cut-off black leggings and black puffball dress.
The former OC star was no doubt there to offer congratulations to her stylist Rachel Zoe, who picked up the Fashion Oracle award. Gwyneth Paltrow and Julianne Moore had also chosen black outfits for the night, but particularly eye-catching were models Karen Elson, in a sheer top and fishnets, and the ever-youthful Iman, both of whom stood out from the crowd in their stylish ensembles.
