Some of the fashion world's most celebrated veterans spent Thursday night partying with the industry's young pretenders when the British Fashion Awards were held in London.

Vivienne Westwood was congratulated by hairdressing maestro Nicky Clarke after she was named winner of the red carpet designer award. And Hustle actress Jamie Murray, currently starring in Debenhams latest ad campaign, was also on hand to offer her best wishes.

Punk icon Zandra Rhodes meanwhile shared a word with statuesque catwalk queen Erin O'Connor. The 6ft 1in runway star lost out to Kate Moss in the model of the year category, but that didn't seem to be bothering her too much as she joked with pink-haired designer.

Among the other famous faces in attendance was Billy Zane, whose fiancée Kelly Brook wowed photographers gathered outside the Victoria and Albert Museum with a spectacular yellow gown. Society trend-setter Daphne Guinness, who was spotted chatting to handbag designer Lulu Guinness, was likewise dressed to impress in a striking black satin number with a matching feather stole.
