There were plenty of beauties on hand as a host of stars paid tribute to screen siren Raquel Welch in New York this week. The statuesque 66-year-old was guest of honour at an intimate dinner celebrating her new Beauty Icon Collection for cosmetics firm Mac.
James Blunt's stunning girlfriend, model Petra Nemcova, and foxy singer Eve were among the gorgeous faces attending the exclusive soiree. Despite the generation gap, there was no doubting Raquel's continuing allure, however, as she set flashbulbs popping in her slinky black dress. She is "the original, ultimate pin-up bombshell", says Mac Creative Director James Gager.
Raquel follows in the footsteps of Liza Minelli, Diana Ross and Catherine Deneuve, all of whom have collabroated with the make-up firm as beauty icons. The Chicago-born actress first came to the attention of audiences in 1966 in the film One Million Years BC, and quickly became known as the natural successor to Marilyn Monroe.
