Proving she's still queen of the catwalks Naomi Campbell opened the Julien Macdonald show on Tuesday to rapturous applause. The 36-year-old stunner, who is one of the Welsh-born designer's favourite mannequins as well as a good friend, hit the runway in one of his fur-lined parkas and later a shimmering gold dress for the finale.
Peaches and Pixie Geldof, Rod Stewart's model daughter Kimberley and actress Jaime Winstone were all front-row for Julien's latest collection. His show is always among the highlights of London Fashion Week and he lived up to the hype yet again with his beautiful eveningwear - from silk ball dresses with gold-encrusted necklines to a Grecian-style, pleated gown in bronze silk.
These days Naomi, who earlier this week was named best model at Elle magazine's style awards, isn't limiting her appearances to the catwalk and magazine covers. She is launching an acting career in the US after winning parts on the hit sitcom Ugly Betty and crime series CSI. "I love acting, and I did it before I was a model, but it's still terrifying and scary," she admitted to one British newspaper.
Lily Cole, meanwhile, is making the most of her modelling career before buckling down to her studies at Cambridge University. The flame-haired 18-year-old, her face framed by a dramatic golden halo, stepped out on the catwalk for London-based designer Osman Yousefzada, whose A-list fans include Kate Moss and Thandie Newton.
