On the same night Kate Moss unveiled her new fashion line in New York, fresh-faced singer Lily Allen was also hosting a party to present a collection of her own back home in the UK.
The 22-year-old brunette, who wore one of her own floral print creations to the launch, presented her first foray onto the fashion scene - New Look's 'Lily Loves' range - at the store's Oxford Street branch. And among the 300 guests gathered to catch a glimpse of the new designs, which reflect the singer's punk take on the prom queen look, was her proud actor and comedian dad Keith Allen.
In collaborating with the High Street chain Lily follows in the footsteps of Kate Moss and Madonna, who have entered into similar partnerships with TopShop and H&M respectively.
Comprising just six dresses plus accessories, Lily's line is smaller than those of her fellow celebrity designers. But the chanteuse emphasises she's not going up against the rival collections. "I don't see it as a competition at all," she reveals. "They are both totally different women and have totally different fan bases to me."
She did admit, however, to being nervous about how her efforts would be received, saying: "I just hope people like it."
