It was a fitting tribute to the flamboyant style that summed up the late fashion icon and muse Isabella Blow. Mourners at her funeral including socialite Tara Palmer Tomkinson and Lady Eloise Anson donned extravagant headwear in honour of the famous style editor who was rarely seen without one of her hallmark hats.
Faces from the worlds of style and showbiz, including model Sophie Dahl, Alexander McQueen - the designer whom she both discovered and championed - and Rupert Everett, all gathered to pay their respects in Gloucester Cathedral to one of fashion's most eccentric and loved stars.
Isabella, who died last week age 48, leaves behind husband Detmar, who attended the service in the same suit he wore at their 1989 marriage ceremony. Poignantly set atop the coffin was one of her most dramatic bonnets - a black sailing ship by Philip Treacy, her favourite milliner, whose career she also launched. "She was constantly dazzled by life and life was constantly dazzled by her," said her actor friend Rupert.
