While the leading lights of UK fashion were busy wrapping up this week's shows in London, across the Atlantic some famous US faces were focusing on a legendary French label at a rather special style event. A Chanel party at the fashion house's Beverly Hills boutique drew a host of screen stars, all of whom had gone for full-on glamour in sultry black ensembles.

British actress Kate Beckinsale, who was accompanied by her Hollywood director husband Ken Wiseman, was on typically elegant form as she arrived in an eye-catching Fifties-inspired cocktail number. The chic little dress with white piping was the same design as that chosen by Naomi Campbell when she hosted her charity fashion show in the British capital on Thursday night.

Also pulling out all the stops was House star Jennifer Morrison. The 28-year-old small-screen star had created a sophisticated effect by adding a classic updo to her pretty, ribbon-strap gown. And Fantastic Four actress Kerry Washington looked equally chic in a silk two-piece cinched at the waist with a chunky patent belt.
