Stella showcases a crisp white vision of summer 2008

With her superstar dad Paul watching proudly from a front row which also included Lily Allen, Twiggy and Kayne West, Stella McCartney presented a spring/summer collection dominated by white at Paris Fashion Week.

The British designer had created a range of loosely structured looks designed to take the wearer from a hot summer's day in the office to a balmy outdoor party - with a refreshing dip in a Fifties-style, fish-print cossie along the way.

Comprising the look, which was explored in a palette of white tones and sun-bleached tints, were cool and comfy creations in floaty, lightweight fabrics which billowed gently in the slightest breeze.

Freedom of movement was key, with short hemlines and simply structured shifts suspended from tiny spaghetti straps. Adding femininity to an otherwise minimalist silhouette were flounces and ruffles, applied at every turn with an equally light touch.

Shoulders were capped with gauzy gathers, while skirts were given volume without weight by the addition of extra layers at the hemline and fun, bustle-like additions at the rear.

Standing out among the capacious, fluid designs was one edgily tailored jacket - although this too was given next summer's softer treatment by being teamed with a pair of flowing, jersey-effect trousers.
