With a client list featuring a host of Hollywood names, designer Roberto Cavalli was guaranteed plenty of celebrity support when he launched his first collaboration with a high street fashion chain.
And sure enough the Italian maestro was surrounded by a string of glamorous guests from the world of fashion, music and movies when he showed off his designs for H&M at a gala evening in Rome’s Salone delle Fontane this week. Adding to the heady fashion buzz was the whirring of helicopters overhead and the constant flashing of cameras.
Among the famous invitees were actresses Halle Berry and Sharon Stone, who made clear her enthusiasm for the collection and the maestro behind it. "The clothes look great," said the Basic Instinct star. "Roberto Cavalli is a wonderful designer who knows how to make both chic and sexy."
Also checking out the fruits of the designer’s latest venture was Israeli beauty Bar Refaeli, who atteneded sans her reported new surfer beau Kelly Slater. The couple apparently hit it off after the model split with actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
Also able to congratulate herself on a fashion coup is supermodel Kate Moss. A high street version of the of the Twenties-style frock she wore on her first date with former love Johnny Depp has sold out just 24 hours after going on sale at Topshop.
Pictures of the Croyden-born covergirl wearing a crystal-encrusted copy at last week's Fashion Rocks concert prompted admirers to rush out and snap up the ₤250 frock.
