For the third year in a row, hellomagazine.com readers have crowned Nicole Kidman the best dressed leading lady at the Academy Awards ceremony. In our poll to celebrate Tinseltown's most glamorous night Nicole, could do no wrong.
Complementing her burgeoning baby bump with a simple black Balenciaga gown, the mum-to-be turned heads at this year's ceremony with her L'Wren Scott-designed 1,399-carat necklace featuring 7,645 diamonds. The combined effect was clearly a look which worked for our readers, with well over a quarter of votes being cast for the chic ensemble.
Coming a close second with 19 per cent of the votes cast was Spanish actress Penelope Cruz - also a runner up in last year's poll. And while her beau Javier Bardem picked up the best supporting actor gong, the stunning Volver star proved herself a winner in the style stakes in a feather trimmed haute couture gown by Chanel.
Third place went to The Devil Wears Prada actress Anne Hathaway, who was bang on trend in a scarlet one-shouldered Marchesa affair. Red was clearly this year's hottest hue, with gowns in that hue ranking in fourth and fifth place. Last year's best actress winner, Helen Mirren, was glamorous in floor-length red satin teamed with silver accessories, while 27 Dresses star Katherine Heigl channelled a similar look in one-shouldered Escada.
