A palette of oyster, avocado and navy was punctuated with vibrant floral prints. One sumptuous example was a floor-length silk gown featuring a golden leaf print that wouldn't look out of place at a ball in the Big Apple's famous Met Museum.
Tempting as well for the glossy city crowd was the collection from Michael Kors. The designer, who's known for his incisive comments on Heidi Klum's reality programme Project Runway, set his show to the Beach Boys' classic Good Vibrations.
Polka dots and gingham day dresses in red and yellow were the staple of a range designed to be worn on holiday in Portofino or Miami. And the sailing and surfing theme was emphasised by the sun-visors that completed most outfits.
