Kicking off the event once more was Dublin-born Paul Costelloe, who set up his runway at the capital's Natural History Museum. His collection for spring-summer 2009 featured military style coats in neutral colours and pretty dresses in bright pinks and yellows.
Watching from the other side of the catwalk was British beauty Erin O'Connor. The model was part of the official opening before Paul's 9.30am show. The action continued with Caroline Charles and Ossie Clark, before uber-trendy PPQ showed its collection in the afternoon.
"It's difficult to sum up our designs," say the label's Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker. "It's like trying to describe what the word 'cool' means."
Thousands of buyers, models and journalists will attend the shows, which end on Friday evening. Highlight of the week is expected to be the Julien Macdonald collection on Monday, with tickets already proving hard for fashionistas to get.
