Two of the red carpet's favourite designers were on show at Paris Fashion Week's penultimate day. In a busy day's schedule, Elie Saab and John Galliano were the red-hot tickets to have as they presented their ready-to-wear collections for next spring.
Sending his models down the runway at Le Carrousel Du Louvre, Lebanese designer Elie's collection had a truly French feel to it. Taking his inspiration from artist Claude Monet's garden at Giverny, the couturier had created a show bubbling over with springlike colours.
Vibrant pastel shades of hydrangea blue, lavender, daffodil, and apple green dominated flowing gowns and cocktail dresses which featured floaty sleeves, billowing trains and long ties stretching out behind the models. Elie's fans, who include Queen Rania of Jordan, Halle Berry and front-row guest Dita Von Teese, will have been delighted.
Later that night, Dita was out again to see British star John Galliano embrace the Regency period for a show filled with his classic designs. Models adorned with mopcaps, bearskins helmets and OTT make-up strutted the catwalk in bright colours, flyaway skirts and fitted jackets.
The stars of the night were the designer's evening gowns. In sheer fabrics, these romantic, flower-printed gowns will no doubt be seen at a premiere any day now.
