Video coverage from the Barbie show More used to creating garments for A-list clientele, this week 51 top designers, including Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and Donna Karan, showcased outfits specially designed for one of America's best-known faces – Barbie.

To mark this year's 50th anniversary of the icon, a Barbie fashion show was included in the New York fashion week agenda.

And on Saturday, following a visual stroll through Barbie's history, the pink curtain opened on a unique display. Among those who'd envisaged dressing the curvy plaything were Vera Wang and Badgley Mischka. The show featured models wearing past, present and future looks, including one dressed as the first Barbie in a black and white-sequinned zebra swimsuit.

Among those front row was Heidi Klum, who watched as Barbie's beau Ken made a special appearance. The blonde bombshell's other half joined his famous girlfriend, who was wearing a white shirt emblazoned with the slogan 'Everyone needs a Ken'.
