Check out the red carpet fashion on display at the Met gala
A highlight of the New York social scene, the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala is the place to see and be seen, decked out in your most fabulous attire, of course.
Kate Moss, one of this year's hosts lived up to her reputation as the golden girl of fashion, making a breathtaking entrance on the arm of designer Marc Jacobs in one of his creations - a metallic one-shouldered 'Greek goddess' gown.
A striking turban by milliner Stephen Jones topped off the supermodel's glamorous look, prompting her to comment: "My hair is under here somewhere."
The theme of the ball was 'The Model As Muse' and Kate certainly hit the target on that score. Editor-at-large for US Vogue magazine Andre Leon Talley exclaimed: "Goddess!" on seeing her.
Also in a Marc Jacobs creation and at her mini-skirted best was Victoria Beckham, who showed off the results of her daily runs in a slashed-to-the-thigh creation featuring a black polka dot print and a long train.
Stella McCartney, chic in a lace jumpsuit of her own design, arrived with a trio of Hollywood's most gorgeous women.
She was accompanied by Liv Tyler, and two blonde Kates - Bosworth and Hudson - all in full-length creations by the British style maven.
Show-stopping moments also came courtesy of an expectant Heidi Klum, resplendent in a J Mendel dress that took a month to make and Agyness Deyn, dressed like a latter-day Marilyn Monroe - complete with bouffant hairstyle.
Jessica Biel, meanwhile, made a beautiful lady in red. And in a winning stroke, she'd accessorised the corseted satin creation with her handsome beau Justin Timberlake.
