She's often front row at Paris Fashion Week, and when there's a photo shoot or a premiere to attend Emma Watson usually chooses her outfit herself.
Yet the Harry Potter actress' latest assignment is the icing on the cake for a self-confessed follower of fashion, who cites Vivienne Westwood, Balenciaga and Marc Jacobs among her favourite labels.
She stars in an artistic set of pictures shot by designer Karl Lagerfeld - who's been developing an alternative career as a photographer since 1987 - in his signature black and white palette.
In one striking image the 19-year-old stares confidently at the camera in an Alexander McQueen bodice-shaped top and a cropped bolero-style Vivienne shirt. Adding to the quirky effect are ghostly makeup and futuristic accessories.
Another has her in French maid's outfit that covers up her entire body but still creates a sensual effect.
The collaboration came about when the German style maven persuaded Emma to pose for him after their paths crossed at a party.
She told French magazine Crash, in which the pictures appear: "This was a dream come true.
"We spent the whole day together and he can talk about anything - literature, art, science, modern culture. I was totally seduced."
