Four awards, five looks and only two names: Lady Gaga and Paco Rabanne. At this year's MTV Europe Music Awards, the 'Fame Monster' outdid herself again.
After hatching out of an egg earlier this year at the Grammys, for the EMAs she chose to not only beat records but be a record. And who would be a better fit than retired Spanish designer Paco Rabanne? He became famous for his architectural metal creations and was even referred to as the 'metalworker of fashion' by no less than Coco Chanel herself. So he is just eccentric enough for the peculiar style of the quirky songstress. Paco retired in 2006, but after a few quiet years his company made a comeback with a fantastic spring-summer collection 2012 under the guidance of the new creative director Manish Arora. Certainly, having Gaga as a champion is a great way to celebrate the return. The singer changed outfits five times during the gala – four voluminous gowns to walk on stage and collect her awards and one more for the photo call afterwards. Her futuristic style was completed with giant headpieces by popular designer Philip Treacy.Unfortunately, we'll never know what other outfits she had in store for the other two categories, in which she was nominated. But after this successful collaboration, we ask ourselves: will there be a sequel or was this a one-time treat?
