'The Queen is an incredible dresser': Gok Wan chats to HELLO! Online

March 21, 2012

After spending half an hour with Gok Wan, it was clear to see why he is Britain’s most loveable fashion guru. His infectious energy had us fascinated as we chatted at the launch of his second eyewear range for Specsavers – a gorgeous forties and fifties-inspired collection designed to “make a style statement”.The television personality divulged his style icons, deeming the Queen’s fashion sense “incredible”.

“I think she is fantastic, an incredible dresser. I love how she puts it together,” he said. Having championed eyewear for some time now, he went on to tell us why he thinks specs are cool. “The first thing you look at someone is their eyes. I love the power of glasses. “They have had a hard time over the last 20 years, but now they’re back – retailers have noticed there is a huge trend for them and I love championing that.”

And for any specs wearers out there wondering what the rules are for choosing your pair, Gok has kindly given us an idea. “There is a general rule of choosing round glasses for square faces and vice versa. But I think it’s all about a feeling and trusting your instinct. “If a pair give you a sense of harmony and make you feel settled, you’re onto a winner. If they jar, or make you feel slightly anxious, you know they’re wrong.” Finally, we wanted to know what three things Gok thinks every woman should have in their wardrobe. “I’d say a perfect pair of jeans for one. That’s super important. A clean, crisp, beautifully cut white shirt is another. “As for the third thing… Me. Without a doubt. Every woman should have me in their wardrobe.”GW by Gok Wan is available at Specsavers nationwide, contact 0800 068 0241 or visit www.specsavers.co.uk/gw to see the full range
