Cheryl puts a feather in her style cap with bird of paradise gown

May 21, 2012

She's recently made a foray into the world of film with a cameo role in What To Expect When You’re Expecting, out later this week. And Cheryl Cole more than lived up to her new movie star status as she stepped out in Cannes on Sunday night. The pop princess was the epitome of Hollywood glamour in an haute couture Stephane Rolland dress that ensured a dramatic entrance to the chic film festival.

With her scarlet feathered skirt, the 28-year-old resembled an exotic bird of paradise at the premiere of Michael Haneke’s Amour. Cheryl – who was on the French Riviera as a beauty ambassador for L’Oreal Paris – topped the stunning look off with dazzling diamond earrings and a petite red clutch that matched her sweeping train. The dress was reminiscent of the black and purple Givenchy creation new mum Beyonce wore for the Met Ball in New York earlier this month. Shortly before her show-stopping appearance, Cheryl tweeted fans: “About to walk the red carpet for @LOrealParisUK. It's raining lol. #Cannes2012.”

But it was a lightning visit for the singer, who jetted back to the UK almost immediately afterwards for the premiere of her film with Cameron Diaz on Tuesday. And she will be in intensive rehearsals during the week ahead of her highly anticipated performance on BBC1 show The Voice on Saturday. Cheryl joined a host of famous faces on the red carpet, including Diane Kruger, who was showing off her fashion prowess once again in a silver shimmering column. The German beauty looked a million dollars in the Vivienne Westwood creation that hugged her svelte physique in all the right places. She was also joined by model Erin Wasson, who wore a flowing silk Antonio Berardi gown adorned with scattered ruby leather petals.
