He's known by the affectionate nickname of Goldenballs, but David Beckham has now been immortalised in silver. Nine 10-foot statues have been erected of the footballer clad in his underpants as part of his second Bodywear ad campaign for high street retailer H&M. They are being unveiled in several location across Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco from Thursday until Sunday.

And the father-of-four is pleased with the larger-than-life monuments, taking to Facebook to post several pictures. The unveiling of the statues comes just days after the release of black and white shots of the star showcasing his new range for the chain. David shows off his athletic physique, as well as his tattoos, in the smouldering shots taken by fashion photographer Alasdair McLellan. And he seems to be enjoying taking part in the underwear campaign, recently admitting that he had no issues with stripping off the camera. "I did nothing different,” he said, referring to the photoshoot, "I'm naturally fit of course as an athlete so there is nothing out of the ordinary I do!"

New products are set to be added to the collection later on this year. Becks said: "I'm very happy that so far people seem to like it and the first season was incredibly successful. The challenge is to keep it going and establish a brand that will last many years. That is my ambition." The formula for the H&M bodywear line is largely about his personal preferences that, he says, are "comfort and fit." And he's not just talking about T-shirts. Apparently, he doesn't mind some downtime at home, and that's why there will be more cosy and warm items heading into stores. "It's important to me that Bodywear means more than just briefs and tees. It's about all the pieces I like," he said. David said he values the input of H&M designers, especially when it comes to their technical expertise, to get products to the point where he wants his name on them. He added: "Working with a team has always been a key part of my life."
