Brit fashion queen Victoria Beckham up for another prestigious BFA

September 5, 2012

Last year, she made an emotionally charged speech after being honoured with the Designer Brand of the Year title at the British Fashion Awards. And Victoria Beckham may be in line to take home another of the prestigious awards at this year's ceremony.

Having made a splash in the celebrity world, with handfuls of A-listers sporting her glamorous designs, it comes as no surprise that the former Spice Girl was announced as a nominee in the Red Carpet category. But she faces stiff competition in the form of Stella McCartney, whose polka dot designs and optical illusions frocks have been spotted on stars the world over. And the daughter of Paul McCartney looks best poised to sweep the board at the annual event on November 27, having been nominated in two other categories.

Given her kit-designing efforts at London 2012, it’s fitting that she is in the running for Designer of the Year along with Mary Katrantzou, Christopher Kane, Mulberry and Burberry. She also has a chance of taking home the Designer Brand Award. Fashion icon the Duchess of Cambridge hasn't been overlooked – Kate has been shortlisted for the British Style Award, which the general public can vote for.

She will go head to head with actress Carey Mulligan, models Kate Moss and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Alexa Chung, who has scooped the gong for the past two years. Royal milliner Philip Treacy, who is set to make his return to London Fashion Week this month, is nominated for Accessory Designer Award, alongside Nicholas Kirkwood and Katie Hillier.
