Dazzling in a floor-length sequinned gown that shone under the bright lights of Claridge’s ballroom, all eyes were on Dannii Minogue. But the collection that she was unveiling with business partner Tabitha Sommerset Webb was so stunning that it managed to steal the attention away from the pint-sized star.
It is the design duo’s line Project D London, which is going from strength to strength and has one particularly famous fan. “It was great that Pippa wore one of our dresses," Dannii said, referring to the bird print peplum dress that Miss Middleton showed off at Wimbledon. "But we just want everyone, everyone to wear our clothes!" "We just want to make pretty dresses," agreed Tabitha, who founded Tabitha's Bags before launching the range with her longtime friend. "Above all we want it to be fun."
Inspired by childhood memories, the show saw models in a beautiful array of colourful, playful dresses storming a playground decorated catwalk to songs from films including Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland. And they even played several games of musical chair, much to the delight of gathered fashionistas. With Dannii currently based in Melbourne, where she is raising their son Ethan near her ex-husband Kris Smith, and Tabitha and her young family in London, the pair revealed that finding time to coordinate designs can be tricky.
"It's been difficult with Dannii in Australia; we Skype in our pyjamas," Tabitha laughed. The happy pair smiled and hugged as they posed for the cameras with their towering models.
