Gisele Bundchen's beloved pet pooch Vida has passed away. The devastated supermodel shared the sad news with her friends on Facebook and paid tribute to her 'best friend'. ''My best friend, she will always live on in my heart," wrote the 32-year-old, who is pregnant with her second child.
"Let's never take for granted the unconditional love that our animals show us every single day." The Yorkshire terrier, who died at the ripe old age of 15, was adopted by the Brazilian beauty in the late 1990s. And the pair have been inseparable ever since. Vida was by Gisele's side as she shot to stardom in the modelling world, during her on-off relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio and was even part of the wedding party when she married Tom Brady in 2009. Tom once acknowledged his wife's love for the pet, saying: "That dog’s been around for 11 years. "She has a higher place in that house than I do. If anything happened to that dog, I may as well jump in the [Boston river] Charles and not come up for air!" The pooch also travelled the world with jet-setting Gisele, accompanying her to modelling gigs and various assignments.
And she was regularly spotted riding in Tom’s bicycle basket during family trips out and playing with their child Benjamin, two, and Tom's five-year-old son Jack on the playground. When the couple added a pitbull named Lua to the family, Vida made sure to show who was boss. "She owns our pit bull, believe me, that little 4-pound dog owns her," Tom said in 2009. "There’s no disputing who the little alpha female in the house is — and that’s my wife’s dog."
