Kylie Minogue's model beau Andres Velencoso is new face of Mango

November 15, 2012

He has been the face of Chanel Allure Homme, Sport fragrance and Louis Vuitton. Now, Kylie Minogue's boyfriend Andres Velencoso has another high profile campaign under his belt. The Spanish heart throb is the new face of Mango, following in the celebrity footsteps of Alice Dellal, Penelope Cruz and Kate Moss. And the 34-year-old looks dapper in the first black and white shot from the campaign, which shows him wearing a sharp suit and looking off into the distance.

He takes over from fellow Spaniard Gerard Pique, who is dating Colombian songstress Shakira. "Success and professionalism were the basic qualities which led to Andrés becoming the ambassador for the brand, the perfect embodiment of the type of man H.E. by MANGO wishes to dress: a young man, with a carefree personality and his own style" commented Ninona Vila, Mango's director of public relations. When Kylie met Andres in 2008 the pop goddess was nursing a broken heart following the end of her four-year relationship with dashing Frenchman Olivier Martinez. Neither she nor the model were looking for anything serious. As the Spaniard said to one magazine: "It started off as a fling." But what started as a casual romance would soon blossom into a passionate love affair. And in a recent interview, Kylie admitted that the couple have considered having children. "Having kids would be marvellous," she said, before admitting that marriage to Andres "would be lower on my list".

Explaining her reticence to tie the knot she said: "I need to know I can step outside this room, I won't, but I do need to know that mentally I have space and freedom. Others would want to know they had those strong foundations, but I'm just a different make-up I guess." It's logical that Kylie's thoughts turn to personal goals as her incredible professional legacy is secured. 2012 is the year the diminutive singer celebrates a quarter of a decade in the music industry, and a wave of celebrations are underway to mark her achievements. Since the Minogue phenomenon was born back in the neon haze of the Eighties, Kylie has honed her identity through two key strands – her music and her style . It is through those two same avenues that her anniversary is being heralded, with album The Abbey Road Sessions giving her greatest hits a grand orchestral makeover.
