Rihanna's Victoria's Secret lace number created in just two hours

November 23, 2012

Taking to the stage with some of the world's most beautiful women showing off their killer curves in skimpy lingerie, Rihanna was understandably keen to make sure her outfit was perfect for her performance at the Victoria's Secret fashion show. But fans may be surprised to learn that the pop sensation's costume was created just hours before the event got underway after the original ensemble her stylists had fashioned for her failed to impress.

"I'd been working on something for a while, but it didn't look right when she tried it on two and a half hours before the show," costume designer Adam Selman said during the star's 777 tour. "So I ran, literally ran, back to my office from the venue. I had my assistants on the phone telling them to run out and buy fabric – it was a bit of a challenge, but we did it. I got to her minutes before everything kicked off, she whipped it on and threw a jumper round her waist and stepped out. She has the confidence to do that – she killed it." Minutes later, Rihanna stepped out onto the runway in the dusky pink lace number.

And she then changed into a raunchier outfit, showing off a suspender-clad thigh in a black corset gown with a full slit. She vamped up the outfit further with long lace gloves, black boots and a pearl choker. The 24-year-old quickly got into the spirit of things as she sang her new songs Diamonds and Fresh Off The Runway, dancing with Dutch beauty Doutzen Kroes and grabbing one angel's underwear as she strutted past. Justin Bieber, meanwhile, managed to keep his composure as he serenaded the supermodels with his new tunes As Long As You Love Me and Beauty and the Beat before joining them all on stage for the finale.

Understandably, the 18-year-old was delighted with his gig, saying backstage: "It's like a dream come true. I would rather be here than anywhere in the world."
