Dubbed the 'Queen of Burlesque' and credited for its recent resurge in popularity, it's fair to say Dita Von Teese is well acquainted with lingerie and the art of looking sexy. So it's entirely fitting that she designs her own range of seductive underwear. And stepping out for the launch of the new collection in London on Wednesday night, the star appropriately vamped it up in velvet. The midnight blue figure-hugging number was low enough to show off her ample cleavage, as well as one of her lacy black bra designs.
During the event at London's Oxford Street branch of department store Debenhams the 40-year-old said: "I am thrilled to be able to launch this signature collection at Debenhams and make these exquisite, vintage-inspired designs available to women throughout the UK. "I wanted to create pieces that enhance the feminine silhouette and make each woman who wears my range feel sexy and glamorous. Each piece is homage to femininity and a reflection of my love of vintage glamour." Flanked by a gaggle of gorgeous girls modelling her designs, the performer typically hammed it up for the cameras as she struck a series of sultry poses. It was the second night out in a row for Dita, who had attended the British Fashion Awards on Tuesday. The star looked stunning in a long-sleeved, black sequinned maxi dress. She joined a host of other famous faces for the star-studded evening, which saw Stella McCartney take home two of the prestigious awards.
Nominated in three categories, she was the name best poised to sweep the board. And certainly triumphed, picking up Designer of the Year and Designer Brand, a double coup insiders have deemed well-deserved after her designs were put on an international stage with the GB kits that she created for the Olympics and Paralympics. And the daughter of Paul McCartney certainly looked delighted to be rounding off a wonderful year with such an achievement, unable to hide her broad smile as she accepted her awards dressed in one of her signature satin jumpsuits with side-panel embellishment. Hollywood star Salma Hayek was on hand to present Stella with Designer of the Year. Wearing a fringed black minidress, the diminutive star looked gorgeous as she playfully twirled for photographers on the red carpet.
Meanwhile, Alexa Chung picked up British Style, an award decided entirely by the public vote, for the third consecutive year. And the TV presenter proved just why she continues to come out on top, showing off her fashion credentials in a lacy black drop-waist dress.
