It's the delightful news that we've all been waiting for — the Duke and Duchess are expecting their first baby. But the more fashion-forward amongst us are already wondering how Kate will marry her much-talked about and acclaimed pre-pregnancy style with her changing shape. What's more, will the style world's discerning eye approve of her take on maternity chic? The fashion team at HELLO! Online has a good feeling that the 30-year-old, who is considered one of the world's biggest style icons, is going to dress her blossoming baby bump to perfection.

She already kicked off the nine-month stint in style on her visit to her old school St. Andrew's, cleverly concealing her stomach under a heavy tartan Alexander McQueen suit. So what sartorial surprises does Kate have up her sleeve now her happy news has been announced? We predict that wrap dresses are bound to feature heavily in her pregnancy wardrobe. The raven-haired beauty is a fan of the clever creation, having been spotted sporting many wrap dresses from queen Issa's designs, and it is a wonderfully-flattering option for mums-to-be. Unless you have been hiding under a rock for the past year, you'll be aware that Kate loves her trusty LK Bennett nude heels. But extra inches can be highly uncomfortable for expectant women. So the royal is likely to rely on the black knee-high boots that she often sports for more laid-back occasions.

They are flattering and go perfectly with both jean/statement top ensembles or floaty dresses and black tights to slim the legs. For formal occasions such as dinners or galas, Kate is likely to look to the trusty empire waist, a cut she is known to favour. This genius silhouette gathers under the bust and falls loosely to the floor, covering burgeoning tummies with cascading fabrics. It also draws attention to the arms and shoulders, places where pregnancy weight tends not to manifest itself. And she may well look to layer up with scarves – a garment that helps deliver verticality to the pregnant silhouette.
