With her famous, former Beatles star father Paul in attendance, as well as supermodel Kate Moss, last year's event was the talk of the town. But this year, Stella McCartney had enlisted the help of other famous friends as she turned on the lights at her London flagship store. In what has become a yearly tradition, the fashion designer invited stars from the world of comedy to keep her celebrity guests entertained at the swanky Christmas bash.
Paul Whitehouse and Vic Reeves, who are known for their work on The Fast Show and Shooting Stars, performed a sketch and singalong before the pretty lights were switched on. The comedy duo then hammed it up for the cameras, larking around and pulling faces as they posed alongside lady of the moment Stella. The 41-year-old looked as stylish as ever in a chic tweed skirt suit and black ankle boots, while her husband Alistair went for a casual khaki jacket and grey polo neck ensemble. The pair watched from the audience, which included celebrity couple Jamie and Louise Redknapp, Radio 1 breakfast show host Nick Grimshaw, chef Raymond Blanc and the British Fashion Council's Natalie Massenet.
The starry attendees enjoyed festive treats such as mince pies, mulled wine and roasted chestnuts. The cool party topped off an incredible year for Stella, who last month took home two prestigious accolades at the British Fashion Awards. Nominated in three categories, she was the name best poised to sweep the board at the cermeony, the highlight of the annual fashion industry calendar. And she certainly triumphed, picking up Designer of the Year and Designer Brand, a double coup insiders have deemed well-deserved after her designs were put on an international stage with the GB kits that she created for the Olympics and Paralympics. And the daughter of Paul McCartney certainly looked delighted with such an achievement, unable to hide her broad smile as she accepted her awards dressed in one her signature satin jumpsuits that with side-panel embellishment.
Hollywood star Salma Hayek was on hand to present Stella with Designer of the Year. Wearing a fringed black minidress, the diminutive star looked gorgeous as she playfully twirled for photographers on the red carpet.
