The Beckham family is certainly one fashion force to reckoned with. Only days after Beckham boy Romeo was unveiled as the face of Burberry, fashion designer mum Victoria has revealed that her clothing line is set to be sold online next year. The former Spice Girl has experienced roaring success with her eponymous, high-end brand, amassing quite the celebrity following with her simple yet sleek designs. And in February 2013, fashion fans will be able to buy the 38-year-old's creations at a click via a newly-revamped online fashion store entitled victoriabeckham.com.
The e-commerce site will sell VVB, denim, accessories and eyewear, and visitors will be able to get a glimpse of exclusive content featuring the star and a news feed giving updates on the brand. Victoria opened up about her most recent professional development in an interview with Elle magazine, revealing that the website has been three years in the making, giving her time to make it as user-friendly as possible. "My new website has been in the making for a very long time," she said. "It was so important that the concept, tone and look of it were true to me and my aesthetic and that the shopping experience was the very best that it could be for my customer." And she is excited about the expansion of her brand and what it can offer to her clients and fans. "The site will be ever evolving featuring never seen before insights into my world throughout the medium of film. "I'm incredibly excited with what I have created and the unique access to the brand I am now able to offer."
The site cannot be accessed until February. But for the more impatient amongst you, a holding page has already gone up, which allows fans to sign up for email updates. Meanwhile, Victoria must also be delighted about her son's prestigious modelling gig. Earlier this week, Romeo was announced as the new face of Burberry. Burberry chief creative officer Christopher Bailey described working with the ten-year-old as a "joy". The son of the former England football captain David and Victoria joins a British cast featuring the likes of Cara Delevingne in the fashion house's Spring/Summer 2013 ad campaign. Romeo appears in one image smiling, holding an umbrella and balancing on one leg in a classic Burberry trench coat. Just last week, at the premiere of stage musical Viva Forever in London, the ten-year-old alluded to his relationship with the brand as he and his brothers were all decked out in bespoke Burberry suits, Romeo topping off his look with a dark Burberry trench coat.
Christopher said: "This season's campaign lights up with the infectious energy of an amazing young cast of old and new Burberry family. Cara, Edie Campbell, Charlotte Wiggins, Charlie France and Alex Dunstan are joined by Max Rendell and Romeo. "We had such fun shooting the campaign and I think that comes through in the images which really reflect the upbeat spirit of the collection." The campaign was shot by renowned fashion photographer Mario Testino, who has a long history with Burberry.
