Hollywood starlet Kate Hudson makes design debut for Ann Taylor

January 24, 2013

Many A-list names have crossed the threshold into fashion design. Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham became a critically-acclaimed designer with her eponymous clothing line, actress Katie Holmes started up Holmes & Yang with her stylist, and Penelope Cruz teamed up with her sister Monica to design a lingerie line in collaboration with Agent Provocateur. But the latest Hollywood starlet to turn her hand to design is Kate Hudson, who has confirmed that she will launch her first capsule collection for Ann Taylor, in addition to signing on again as the face of the fashion label.

The 33-year-old daughter of Goldie Hawn will work alongside creative director Lisa Axelson to design a line of clothing inspired by her red carpet looks for everyday wear. "Working with Ann Taylor has been a great creative experience, and there is a really wonderful collection," Kate said in a statement. "Ann Taylor is great at creating iconic wardrobe staples and updating them season after season. I love that Lisa Axelson is designing clothes for real women." With her love of gorgeous, glamorous red carpet gowns fashioned by the likes of Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Versace, we imagine the line will be brimming with A-list glitz and sparkle.

The collection will launch in Ann Taylor stores in the US next month and also be available to buy online. The Almost Famous actress has been the face of Ann Taylor since its spring/summer 2013 campaign. And as well as acting as brand ambassador for the brand, she is set to join the advisory council for Ann Inc.'s ANNpower Vital Voices Initiative. The initiative is aimed at empowering young women to serve as global leaders. Kate's role will be to help select grant proposals and act as a mentor to female high school students.

Kate wowed onlookers at the Golden Globes earlier this year as she stepped out looking nothing short of breathtaking in a super sexy, black Alexander McQueen floor sweeping gown with a keyhole neckline and gold detailing around the shoulders and waist. The mum and Bradley Cooper presented the first award of the night, Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture, which was won by Christoph Waltz for his role in Django Unchained.
