Anne Hathaway defined elegance in a sleek, studded Burberry gown as she scooped the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Les Miserables. On closer inspection, her bespoke Anya Hindmarch Les Mis style clutch proved to be something of a showstopper too. The Duke clutch, inspired by trinket boxes from the Georgian era, was personalised with a vintage cover of Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables novel. The £795.00 statement clutch features luxurious Italian satin faceted front and back panels and is lined with soft suede.

The 30-year-old actress also set a trend for the evening by wearing matching bangles on both wrists. Sarah Jessica Parker and Laura Whitmore similarly strayed from tradition by sporting their bracelets on both wrists. Amy Adams and Jessica Chastain complemented their fiery red locks by opting for dazzling, statement earrings with bright gems.

Silver Linings Playbook star Jennifer Lawrence wore drop silver Chopard earrings with her fairytale Christian Dior embellished gown. Jennifer Garner and Thandie Newton, both in monochrome, also kept accessories to a minimum but let their oversized earrings do the talking.

Marion Cottilard softened her eye-popping Christian Dior canary yellow gown with a chic Chopard diamond necklace. Also brightening the dreary London weather in yellow was Rising Star nominee Andrea Riseborough who wore a simple gold De Beers necklace with her Vivienne Westwood Couture gown.

Paloma Faith’s retro glam updo, topped with an intricate, dazzling De Beers accessory, turned heads. Quirky Les Miserables actress Helena Bonham Carter was more subtle in her choice of hair accessory, weaving Jessica McCormack diamond star hair clips into her tresses.
