A-list beauties descend on New York Fashion Week

February 14, 2013

Always one to flirt with the edgier side of fashion, Miley Cyrus made a traffic stopping style statement as she stepped out at New York Fashion Week on Wednesday. Accompanied by her mother Trish, the 20-year-old was red hot in a scarlet jumpsuit as she attended Hollywood super-stylist Rachel Zoe's show at the Big Apple's Lincoln Centre. With a slouchy, boho-chic vibe that effortlessly combined high fashion with a grungy edge, new designer Rachel pleased fashion critics with her new offerings. Flared trousers, overzied sweaters, and leather leggings made for a very accessible cool-girl look.

Across town, there were other A-listers taking their front row seats. Hollywood beauties Hilary Swank and Zoe Saldana managed to catch up as they watched Michael Kors unveil his latest wares. Avatar star Zoe was pretty in pink, sporting a fuschia body-con dress that she paired with a matching snakeskin clutch and black gladiator heels. Hilary, meanwhile, was the epitome of ladylike elegance in a striped A-line frock that flattered her slim physique. The A-list pair joined Catherine Zeta-Jones' husband Michael Douglas and Will Smith's other half Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Popping backstage at the show, Hilary giggled as she posed up with 6ft1in supermodel Karlie Kloss, who towered over the 5ft6in movie star. Karolina Kurkova had also sent her supermodel status to the Sandy-inspired show that was in 'chic survival mode'. Camouflage patterns of white, black and khaki featured heavily, while safety orange, taxicab yellow and trafficlight red made for a collection "based on speed, endurance and glamour".

In lieu of dramatic evening gowns, mullet dresses with short peplum skirts and long trains in neon orange and royal blue hues ensured his collection stood out from the fashion week crowd. Model of the moment Karlie closed the show in a crystal peplum gown.
