Lydia Bright burst onto our screens in hit TV show TOWIE in 2010 and won legions of fashion fans with her cool and quirky style. Since quitting the series in late 2012, the 21-year-old has made a foray into fashion with an eponymous womenswear label. HELLO! Online get the lowdown on her new line, her biggest fashion faux pas and her relationship with fellow former cast member Tom Kilbey. "I've always been into fashion… My mum, dad, aunt and great aunt are in fashion so I think it's in the blood. After setting up my boutique 'Bella Sorella' it made sense to start thinking about designing my own range for the store. My creativeness just took off and I love designing and now see it as a long term career.
My style has really evolved… There are different trends that come through and different trends that emerge and my style kind of evolves and changes with that. My core style is very 50s and feminine and quite classic – it probably stays the same each time but evolves with the trends. My biggest fashion faux pas was… I went to a charity event and wore a sheer skirt and top with a sheer slip underneath it. When I saw the pics the following day I looked naked! I had to put a lot of thought into leaving TOWIE… I didn’t just make the decision overnight. It was a decision that I sat down with my parents, my management and all the people I have around me and spoke about before I left. It was really because I really wanted to focus on my fashion stuff this year and try new things, and although it was quite a hard decision to leave I had to take a chance and hopefully it’s the right decision. I miss being around my friends on the show…Especially Lucy, Bobby and filming with my mum which is always a lot of fun. But just because I’ve left TOWIE it doesn’t mean that I have to stop talking to my friends. I was on the phone to Lucy the other day and I’m still in touch with Lauren, Jess, my mum obviously and Carol because of Jessica. I see people every now and again when we’re at events but they’re my friends that I’d call and chat to. The others, I’m more acquaintances with.
I think Tom and I are very suited... We met organically and so far it’s going really well. For Valentine’s he bought me 298 roses for the 298 days we had been together which I thought was really sweet. I try to be as healthy as I can… I currently have a personal trainer that I see for an hour a session, three hours a week, someone called Sam Felton in the City – he's really good. I do a lot of toning exercise as it just makes me feel really healthy, toned and happy with my body so I’m just going to keep maintain that. I’d like to do a lot more travelling this year… Last year I was really fortunate enough to travel around India with Denise Van Outen to raise funds for Great Ormond Street. We raised £35,000. So to do something like that again would be amazing as its a great way to travel and raise money (for charity) as well. I’d also like to build my brand, and maybe delve into other areas of fashion as well, like accessories or footwear and to keep on building my brand.
