Victoria Beckham 'purchases Spar store' for fashion label

March 20, 2013

It appears Victoria Beckham's fashion line is expanding at a rapid rate. The fashion designer has reportedly purchased a Spar store as extra work space for her 'rapidly growing team'. The designer is said to have signed papers to own the local grocery store around the corner from her current offices in South London. "Victoria's range is going from strength to strength," a source told the Mirror. "Quite simply, she needs more space."

They continued: "She's been looking at disused warehouses and shops for some time and heard the Spar newsagent around the corner had come on the market. Victoria is a canny businesswoman and has negotiated a great deal for herself." The insider also revealed that the convenience store will require refurbishment before the team move in. "Whilst it's not the most glamorous of operating spaces, it is functional and, once renovated, will provide the perfect base," they added. "Obviously she hasn't bought it as her inaugural flagship store but she will be using it primarily as extra work space for her rapidly growing team. Victoria and her family recently moved back to London from Los Angeles, allegedly to give the former Spice Girl better opportunity to 'focus on her clothing line'.

The 38-year-old was keen to be closer to her brand's headquarters in the capital's Battersea, according to a source that revealed all to Radar Online. "Victoria couldn't handle managing her lucrative fashion line from Los Angeles any more because it's based in London," they said. Apparently being "often up in the middle of the night having conference calls with her staff across the Pond" became a bit too much. Last year, the mum-of-four admitted that she was finding juggling her transatlantic responsibilities trying, with the time difference often leaving her exhausted. "I have a lot on my plate," she said. "I'm not going to lie about it, I'm tired. I'm really tired. I'm basically just like any woman who's working and has lots of children – it's tough." She continued: "I'm not getting much sleep at all. Harper's not sleeping that great, and I've been taking Skype business calls throughout the night too because of the collections. I'm up with the baby as all mums are and I wouldn't have it any other way. There's not a team of people doing it for me."
