Monday night sees the return of Made In Chelsea, with its glamorous cast members and their seriously covetable wardrobes. We love to analyse the style of well-heeled fashionistas Millie Mackintosh, Louise Thompson and Cheska Hull, but research suggests that their designer outfits may not be quite in the average person's budget.
According to Confused.com, the typical wardrobe of a cast member is valued at £131,480. For example, Millie, who recently got engaged to rapper Professer Green, owns an oversized oxblood handbag by Chanel that is bound to have set her back several thousands of pounds. Another item in her wardrobe is a tweed peplum top by Rebecca Taylor, which has a £280 price tag.
She spares no expense when it comes to dresses either. The 22-year-old stepped out at an awards ceremony in a stunning long black gown by Rachel Gilbert, who creates red carpet gowns that start from £1,000. The average wardrobe of a Made In Chelsea fashionista is in stark contrast to that of a typical TOWIE cast member, whose closet is valued at £4,052. While the Made In Chelsea girls favour designer garments, the TOWIE stars, including Sam Faiers and Lucy Mecklenburgh, champion high street brands including missguided.com, Gorgeous Couture and Pretty Little Thing.
The insurance price comparison site is warning fashionistas not to get caught out by forgetting to include their prized garments and beauty products on their home insurance policy. "Popular programmes such as Made In Chelsea appear to have an influence on the typical British females' style choices," said a Home Insurance Expert at Confused.com. "However, when it comes to home contents insurance cover, we are noticing a trend of women possibly undervaluing their possessions because they are forgetting about the expensive pair of shoes of handbag they have saved up to buy or even forgetting to cover their clothing at all."
