Victoria Beckham switches sky-high heels for running trainers

May 22, 2013

Victoria Beckham has surprised fans by swapping her high heels for running trainers. The fashion designer tweeted a photo of her neon green Nikes last night and encouraged her Twitter followers to get active with her. "Let's go running fashion bunnies. Beautiful evening in London", she captioned the snap which she shared with over 6 million followers. The fashionista mum-of-four had put her own spin on the fun footwear by personalising them with the name 'Posh' on the tongue – a throwback reference to her days in the Spice Girls.

The 39-year-old probably pounded the streets around the exclusive roads of Kensington where she currently rents a lavish property with husband David Beckham and children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper. The Beckham clan moved back to the UK from LA at the end of 2012 so that Victoria could focus on her ever-expanding fashion business. Victoria took up running in a bid to lose her baby weight after having daughter Harper in July 2011. "I worked out a lot. I ran a lot," she said in an interview. "I did it six days a week. I become quite obsessive when I get into something." The busy mum explained that she stuck to a strenuous exercise routine under the guidance of famed celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson who has also worked her magic on Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna and Cheryl Cole.

The former Spice Girl and solo artist is famed for her love of towering stilettos and is rarely seen wearing flat shoes. "What might feel like a nine-inch heel to most people is like a flip-flop to her," her close friend Heidi Klum once said. Last week Victoria paid tribute to her husband David following his announcement that he is retiring from football. In a statement, the fashion designer described David as "an amazing sportsman and a devoted husband and father", calling him "not just an inspiration to myself and our children, but for millions of people worldwide". On Thursday, sports star David, 38, announced his professional retirement after an illustrious 20-year career. His wife was among the first to honour his incredible achievements. "The children and I are so proud of David, it's been an incredible journey for us all as we have watched him play at clubs all over the world throughout the last 15 years. "Myself and the children have cheered him from the stands, as he has held high trophies with his teams at Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, LA Galaxy and Paris St Germain. "This was not an easy decision to make, and to me and the children he will always be an amazing sportsman and a devoted husband and father ."He is, and will remain, a true ambassador for sport and is not just an inspiration to myself and our children but for millions of people worldwide. "We are all excited about the next chapter in our lives and the adventures we will explore as a family."Click here for the more Victoria Beckham news
