American fashion designer L'Wren Scott has joined forces with Californian high-street giant, Banana Republic, to create an affordable 50-piece holiday collection that will be available later this year.

The collection will feature figure-hugging dresses, fitted blazers, colourful printed trousers - designs inspired by L'Wren's extravagant life and style.

L'Wren, 46, is well-known for her expensive designs and preference for luxury fabrics in her creations – pieces from her Autumn 2013 collection included 23 Karat gold accessories.

Banana Republic's latest collaboration is revolutionary for the brand, which commonly specialises in loose-fitting preppy casualwear, in contrast to L'Wren's designs which are known to be classic yet high fashion.

The girlfriend of Mick Jagger, 70, has styled several A-list celebrities including Julianne Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker and Nicole Kidman.

Sketches released by L'Wren for the high-street chain show a range of bright red and pink floral outfits, a tight black fitted jacket and a black and pink knee-length skirt with a cropped fuscia jacket, nipped in at the waist.

The pink patterned trousers are said to have been inspired by a collection of photos that L'Wren took of her peonies in her garden on her iPad.

'She would bring jewels as inspiration for buttons,' Simon Kneen, creative director and executive vice president of design of Banana Republic said of the Utah-born designer's creative process.

With these personal touches, or 'L'Wren-isms', as Simon calls them, they were able to create an affordable collection which is suited to their clientele. Prices will range from $39.90 to $165.

The feminine designs will be complimented with a range of accessories including striped berets, totes and cashmere blankets.

One of the accessories featured is an edgy black box clutch patterned with lips with a removable jewelled gunmetal chain which can double as a necklace or bracelet.

In order to reflect the holiday concept, several pieces of the collection feature velvet, faux fur and brocade-printed fabrics.

"I kept saying to Simon, 'Can't we do gifts?' hich was so my own selfish interest to make my holiday shopping list a little lighter. I've already pre-ordered everything I can," excitedly L'Wrem admitted about the collaboration.
