All eyes were on Blake Lively as she stepped out for the Gucci show during Milan Fashion Week on Wednesday. The former Gossip Girl actress wowed onlookers in a figure-hugging mustard leather dress. She topped off the look with red lips, bronze two-strap heels and a metallic clutch. After making her way inside the venue, Blake, who is married to fellow actor Ryan Reynolds, took her front row seat next to US Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
Gucci's show was a glittering success. The collection stayed true to the brand's aesthetic – strong, seductive and sleek – but gave the feminine silhouettes a sports luxe twist. "I took activewear essentials as a starting point and set out to create a feminine take on technical outfitting, crafted with Gucci's codes," said creative director Frida Giannini backstage.
The sportswear reference came through baggy jogging bottoms elasticated at the waist and ankle with racing stripes running down each leg.
Gauze netting featured heavily, used for sleeves, an outer-layer over print dresses and as panels on the lower back or on the hip.
Jewel tones made up the colour palette, with emerald greens, amethyst and ruby reds.
Modelled by the likes of Joan Smalls and Anja Rubik, the collection featured shimmering dresses slit to the navel and thighs, billowing embellished kaftans, kimonos and jumpsuit.
Gucci is known for its finale – show stopping gowns that rounds off the collection. This season was no different – black chiffon dresses split to the navel and embellished with thousands of sequins paired with python and suede oversized clutches topped off a wonderful production.
