Tickets to the Met Gala, an annual event dubbed the 'Fashion Oscars' and attended by A-listers including Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Cara Delevingne and Jennifer Lawrence, are rising to a staggering $25,000 (£15,650) per person this year. The reason for the hike in price is due to organisers, including US Vogue editor Anna Wintour, deciding that the New York event needs to be even more exclusive, according to Page Six.
"There will be one ticket price of $25,000 (last year there were $15,000 and $25,000 tickets on sale) for the 2014 gala celebrating both the reopening of the Costume Institute and the Charles James Exhibition," a source told the publication. "Increasing the ticket price will make the Met Gala even more high-fashion, even more exclusive and even more aspirational," added another source.
The event will be held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art of 5 May 2014, with chair Aerin Lauder and co-chairs Bradley Cooper, Sarah Jessica Parker, Anna Wintour, Oscar de la Renta and Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch.
The theme of next year's gala will be a tribute to Charles James, who is one of America's best-known couturiers. "James had an extraordinarily, highly evolved palette," Costume Institue curator Harold Joda told WWD."It was more colours than one finds in an English garden. I am expecting that the people who really want to evoke James will also play with this saturated jewel colour."
