It has been announced that Robbie William's clothes label Farrell has closed. "The support of the men's press and retailers internationally since we started has been incredible and I want to thank you," said Robbie in a statement. "I have also been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with the talented Ben Dickens and will miss creating and working with and wish him every luck for the future."

The superstar singer launched the menswear brand in 2011, which he named his grandfather Jack Farrell, who was known for his sharp-dressing in his hometown of Stoke-on-Trent.

The brand motto was 'Wear it in, wear it out' and had "great integrity, honesty, good manners and a sense of humour", according to a statement released when it launched.

The collection, designed by Ben Dickens, who was a former design director at Burberry, was stocked at Selfridges and House of Fraser.

The video, filmed in downtown Los Angeles, shows the former Take That star 'sailing' down the streets at the helm of a wooden ship.

Robbie's singing career is, however, as successful as ever, and he recently revealed that the video for his new single Go Gentle was inspired by his one-year-old daughter Teddy.

On Thursday the company confirmed that it has gone into liquidation and filed for voluntary bankruptcy.

Last week Robbie spoke about how his and wife Ayda Field's daughter Teddy had inspired the single. "Everything I do, is for her," he admitted in the interview for BBC Radio 4. "Every time I open my mouth now in the studio it's a song about her. "It would bore people to death but I could do a trilogy of albums about her. "The loving father was audibly choked up when he spoke about his little girl. "She's difficult to talk about," he said. "There is a reason for me to everything now. I wasn't going to have a kid and I wasn't going to get married," he confessed. "Then I met someone who was amazing and I fell in love with her completely and I changed all my thoughts and feelings about that. "It's a miracle that it has happened because I now get to experience the full gamut of being human, and she's a sensational kid. "Robbie's new album Swing Both Ways is out on 18 November and his single Go Gentle is released on 11 November.
